JUNE 2013
Dear Bret,
Dear Bret,
It's as clear as day, that look on your face when I told you that it was "only this far on the map," as I pinched my fingers together, hoping you would take me on another adventure to a place we had never been (There were just so many on our bucket list!). I can still envision you rolling those striking baby blues at me, sighing deeply, and saying that it was "too far." But, I can also remember all the times you actually indulged me...so today, on our second Father's Day apart, I decided to go to one of those places you told me "No" to, Montauk Point, NY. The other day Tina told me something about you and Mike that sort of summed up why she and I are having such a difficult time without you both here on this earth. She watched a movie where someone said to Julia Roberts, "You don't need a man, you need a champion." That is what you were, Bret, you were my champion. You loved me unconditionally, you always had my back, and you gave me the courage to really, truly live...white horse and all. I am a better person because of you, and who knows? Maybe I am still alive because of you (I won't know that until I get to Heaven, and I get to ask God that question.) So Happy Father's Day my best friend and my one true love...I love you forever!!!
